Promoting Integrity Through ERA’s Ethics Committee
January 12, 2023 Southeast Asia
In the face of ever-growing ethical dilemmas, ERA Communications has taken a proactive step to ensure its business practices are always in line with its core values by establishing an Ethics Committee in 2022. This Committee is designed to bring great value to the organization, our people, and the communities we serve by establishing guidelines around the clients we choose to work with and making budget-blind determinations on whether to pursue certain client opportunities. We regard this as an important step in ensuring our business practices are always in line with our core values, which are reflected in our people.
As ethics and ethical views are often diverse among those working in a company, having many individuals involved in the decision-making process can help provide more insights into the direction of a company’s future agenda. ERA’s Ethics Committee ensures a cohesive mission, recruits diverse departmental members, considers a wide array of stakeholders, and invites direct inputs from committee members.
When it comes to evaluating if it’s a company ethically that we want to work with, Anthony Larmon, Regional Managing Director of ERA Communications assured that “There are several key factors to consider when we choose the client to work with. First, we look at the company’s policies and procedures to ensure that they promote ethical behaviors and adhere to relevant laws and regulations. We also look at the company’s track record in terms of how it treats its employees and how it has handled any ethical issues that have arisen in the past. Additionally, it’s important to research the company to find out what kind of reputation it has in the industry and the wider community. By taking all of these factors into account, we make an informed decision about whether the company is the one that we want to work with.”
Amidst increasing public scrutiny of business practices, and the rise of technology and digital communications that make it easier to identify and expose ethical missteps, it is now more critical than ever for companies to conduct their operations in an ethical manner.
Alex Dance, Managing Director of ERA Cambodia said “The Ethics Committee is important for us because it helps ensure that the company is acting in a manner that is ethical and responsible. It is essential for a company’s success and reputation, as it builds trust and credibility with employees, clients and investors. We want to do good things. We want to be on the right side of history. We want to have a positive change impact and create the world that we want to live in, through communications.”
Looking back to 2022, the year ERA’s Ethics Committee was founded, ERA Communications had been conferred 19 awards including PR Agency of the Year, Creative Agency of the Year, and Independent Agency of the Year for Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar by The Public Affairs Asia and SABRE. This is a source of immense pride for all ERA regional offices, employees, and investors as all the achievements are dedicated to our ethical decision-making.
We are confident that ERA’s Ethics Committee will continue to guide our leadership in making decisions that are ethical, sensitive, and in the best interest of our clients and the communities in which we operate.
