The Road to Equity: Our Journey Towards a More Diverse and Inclusive Workplace
May 29, 2023 Southeast Asia
We are steadfast in our belief that a diverse and inclusive workplace not only enriches the lives of our employees but also enhances our ability to serve our clients and communities. Recently, at ERA, we took a crucial step forward by conducting a self-identification survey to gain deeper insights into the diversity of our workforce. While this survey represents just a tiny step in our DEI journey, it plays a vital role in our pursuit of these important goals.
Gender Equality & Representation
Our commitment to fostering a balanced workplace shines through in our gender representation. An impressive 61.5% of management positions are held by women, surpassing industry averages in both the communications agency landscape and the Asian context. Such an achievement serves as a testament to our dedication to gender equality. Additionally, our agency workforce reflects the vibrant energy of Southeast Asia, with the majority falling within the age group of 25 to 34, mirroring the region's median age of 28.
Embracing Diversity in Sexual Orientation and Religious Beliefs
Since ERA's inception, we have taken great pride in maintaining an environment that champions openness and inclusivity. As a result, we are proud to share that 20% of our ERAnauts (our endearing term for ERA employees) identify as part of the LGBT group. This statistic underscores our commitment to creating an accepting workplace and highlights the diverse nature of the identities within our organization. Furthermore, we embrace a rich variety of religious beliefs, respecting and celebrating the unique spiritual journeys of our employees.
Our dedication to DEI extends far beyond collecting data. It is all about nurturing a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to seize equal opportunities for growth and development.
“A diverse and inclusive workplace is not just the right thing to do; it is also the key to our future success” ~ Anthony Larmon
While we recognize that there is still much more progress needed to achieve genuine inclusivity, this survey has provided us with invaluable insights. These insights allow us to pinpoint improvement areas and set meaningful goals for fostering a more diverse and inclusive culture. We are steadfast in our commitment to implementing wide ranging initiatives, such as offering comprehensive training and education to our employees and cultivating engaging opportunities for collaboration and involvement.
Together, we can create a future where diversity and inclusion flourish, inspiring positive change within our organization, industry, and beyond.
