Together with its partners, Shwe Job, an app platform created by SMART Myanmar and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeith (GIZ) GmbH to teach garment factory workers about occupational safety and health in the factory and to increase awareness of the existing labour laws, sought to
engage key stakeholders on the impact of COVID-19 on industry guidelines, workers’ rights and related discussions– Much of which remained unclear, with even those directly affected in a cloud of uncertainty.
We supported Shwe Job and partner GIZ Fabric by organizing
an online roundtable with partner NGOs and relevant local labour and industry associations, first through Zoom and later posted
on the Shwe Job Facebook page, to highlight the importance of improving workers conditions during COVID-19. Co-created social media content and media relations were also implemented to amplify awareness on the issues facing the sometimes-overlooked garment workers of the pandemic-hit country.
